New Toys

Zeke and I received a gift in the mail last week from a dear friend.
It's a fun wacky knit toy that Z loves!

I was at a Festival all day vending last Saturday and this along with a rattle that Papa Wolfe picked up on one of his travels were the only things to occupy this little one. (mama milk was also available) :)



It's so cute to watch his hand finally grip the rattle and with a shake of his hand, the noise from the rattle startles him.

I got a new toy that I am super excited about! It's a Polaroid Super Shooter that I bought off of a friend. I love it! It's a switch trying not to take picture after picture like I do with my digital camera so I have put a limit myself.

Thankful

Between preparing for spring/summer markets, planning summer activities, changing diapers and soap making, there has been some first for a certain boy, some yummy snacks made and fishing at the pond.

We finally got around to pulling out our strawberries and the first to be made was this strawberry sorbet, recipe from Apples for Jam. Love love love this cookbook. Oscar and I made this sorbet a couple years ago and I forgot just how good it was. We added some whipped cream and ohhh how yummy!







This evening went from watching the sunset and fishing late in the day by the pond to Oscar catching his very first fish.








This little baby frog went from this...



to....something smooshed in my sandal.
(maybe not this exact frog, but probably his brother or sister :/)

These events of my life make me think about how grateful and proud I am to mother these two sweet, ever changing beautiful boys.
I can't believe how much they grow and change over such a short time.
My big one has graduated from kindergarten to first grade, caught his first fish, is learning to save his money for things he really enjoys and is such a big helper to his new little brother.
I'm so thankful for the time I get to spend with each of my boys. Whether it's reading to them, changing a diaper, hitting a ball outside, tucking them to bed at night, singing our good morning song or pulling out a splinter. I love being a mom and I cherish every moment and celebrate the life I have with my boys every day of my life.

Week 2

The Purge continues...
It's hard to believe that it has been 2 weeks of closet purging. (that sounds like a bad thing)
Giving up my clothes has never been so easy! I already have 11 items in my pile.
I think this deserves a reward. Maybe after 1 month after dropping the pile of clothes to a local charity, I'll reward myself with a new item of clothing. We'll see...



Again each one of these items I have had at least since high school!

Better Things To Come

It has been done. My goal is by the end of each week, preferably on Fridays, to take 5 items of clothing out of my closet to donate. I was so ready for this that by Tuesday 6 items were purged. I actually had to stop myself from throwing more into the pile!

The 6th item? One to grow on, as my Grandmother always said.

I am thrilled about this process, never believing that I could actually get rid of my clothes. Someone said recently, that getting rid of the old and unused is the only way for the new and better things to come into your life. And why wouldn't you want better things to come into your life, right?!

On another note, strawberries are here....





and there is a list of items that need to be made,
pie, juices, smoothies, sorbet...

so off we go as we spring into another week.

A New Goal

I am finally ready to purge my closet! I have clothing from when I was in high school, and probably middle school. It all still fits but I need a change and I'm starting with the closet.

My goal is to purge 5 items of clothing a week, 20 items a month and donate them to a local charity. (if they'll have them!)

Sometimes, for me, especially after having a child I tend to veer towards the comfort of clothes, sweats, (yoga pants) and a sleeveless tee. The yoga pants are comfortable and the tees are simple to nurse in. So, I'll be on a hunt, after a month of purging, for some comfortable, stylish, nursing friendly clothes. Wish me luck!

Now, I'm off to paint my nails, because it's the little things in life that are so pleasing!

A New View

Before Zeke was born I searched the internet for inspiration for the perfect baby's room. I found the perfect thing here! I just loved the simple, natural, uncomplicated look of this room from the handmade leaf lamp to the hanging tree branch. (Here's another view of the room.)

My mom rocks! While I was probably sleeping off my pregnancy, my dear mom threw together some ideas that she and I had and BAM! the room came together in a matter of months. She made ALL the crib bedding, the curtains and the pouch hanging off the crib.

The Gummie Bears were a great find from Papa Wolfe as was the antique corner cabinet I use as his clothes dresser. The mobile was a long-time-ago find in New York City at a Flea market. I found this before Oscar was born and used as a mobile in his room as well.

I just love the way this room came together and how it doubles as a baby/guest room. I love curling up with my 2 youngins on the bed at night and reading our nighttime stories just as much as jumping on the bed in the middle of the day!

Finding Rhythm and Inspiration.

Finding Life's rhythm can be rough after having a child or a change in your daily routine.
Up until I had Zeke I had very little energy to do basic things, putting on socks, doing laundry, making dinner... everything was an ordeal.

Sometimes, I can get lost in finding balance in everyday chores (washing dishes, clothes, diapers, making meals) and finding motivation needed to start a project. So, this week I set out to stimulate some creativity in my life.

Whether this means painting my nails, listening to good music or finding a new do for my hair....sometimes it's just the little things that can change your mood and give you the inspiration you need!

So, below I put together a list of some inspiration that helped me out this week:

New In Town.

There is a new cupcake place in town and it has gotten the better of me. Especially after having a baby, I have such a sweet tooth!




I have had quite a few and looking at the website....the Mellow Cream is looking way too good right now!



This is Oscar's favorite, the Strawberry Malt. I think it took him 4 days to eat the whole thing! They are that big!

On another note, I am preparing for the Athens Farmers Market that starts THIS Saturday!!
