Advant: Day 2

Stretch now and grab a coat.
Let's head out the door to find our perfect tree!

Advant: Day 1

I love to get the kids involved in Holiday activities.
It makes the Season that much more fun and exciting!
(for the adults as well as the kids!)

One way we celebrate the season is the Advant calendar.
It reminds me of my younger days when my brothers and I would excitingly open up the
windows of the cardboard house to find a special treat hidden.
Knowing it was yet another day down until Christmas morning.

I made origami baskets a few years ago that we will reuse another year.
I had the intent to make a new calendar for this year,
I thought the kids would appreciate one ready come the 1st of December.

I try to stick with activities that I think the kids will enjoy,
instead of toys or candies that they will have plenty of come Christmas.
Although, on a few filler days, a couple of gold coins get added.

Day 1
A movie is in your future ~
grab some popcorn and it's a date!

Happy Advanting!

Love Letter Saturday

Even though I haven't posted a Love Letter in a while
it doesn't mean that they are not still coming!

Getting it on!

Here I Come!!

My First!

I finally did it
Made my first vest.
Originally it was made for my dear Zeke.
Though, it turned out a bit smaller than supposed to be.
(my measurements don't always add up)

So, the vest was finished a bit ago and worn by my little love, Fender.
This little fellow melts my heart.
Oh how handsome he looks...
And with my hand-knits!

I think I may have to knit more for the boys,
Or maybe just the littles.
If I can get my measurements right!

Sleep Tight Little One!

iPhone Collection

My boy who loves bread, to build with blocks can make just about *anything* a comfy place to sit.
We have had a great week.
Visiting with friends
Night Games
Block Building
A new rug and sheepskin
Pumpkin Pickin'
Apple Eatin'
and just plain ole fun at home.

Next week goal:
work on the Fall Garden!

16 October 2012

Well, I had hoped to finish Fender's baby blanket by now.
However, I have realized when you are a busy mama things may go unnoticed.
Ah hummm, like when the pattern calls for 10 sections, you should not have 20 sections!
So, just like the stitches went on the stitches came off last week.

I took a deep breath, unraveled the blanket and started over.
Someone reminded me that some of the lovely things in life take time.
This is one of them.

Furry Followers

On my walk this morning I was greeted by some furry friends.
We acquired them when we moved into this home.

They are very sweet and it was a very lovely morning and I didn't mind the company.
Happy Monday
welcome October!

My Kinda Place

For my birthday, a couple weeks ago, Dave took me to the mountains.  Stopping by several thrift and antique shops, I found something that I have been wanting to place in our new home.
A swing hammock!
So, on my walk yesterday, the first thing I saw was my hammock.
Finally hung on the front porch.
This house, my hammock, these woods, these views
they are all my kinda place.

A Little Challenge

Sometimes, I feel like I need to be doing more.
More for myself, making a better me.
Well, I have started a pathway to doing so.
What a better way of doing so than to pull in some support, a partner or a 7 year old child.
So, Oscar,
(said 7 year old), has agreed to also challenge himself.
Our challenges together include,
drinking 4 glasses of water a day.
to journal everyday.
Day 3, so far so good.

A challenge just for me.
It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the everyday duties.
With the weather changing,
I want to get outdoors,
to notice the blooming buds, the falling leaves, the different shades of green.
So, I'm setting off on a walk each morning,
photographing the beauty of what surrounds me.
The simple shades of color, the clucking chickens, the shadows, the rising sun.
 So, this is my time.

I would like to report back here by the fall of each day to document my findings.
I hope to also report how the challenge of me and Oscar are going too.
I hope to find peace, beauty and some extra strength to go about my day.

Our Clan Update

Major changes have blown through our family like a fierce Ocean storm;  challenging us, rocking us, changing us.  We have learned to  leaning into every curve.  Yet, I can see that these very challenges have made our little family stronger and better because of these rocking waves.

What we have been up to:
 (Pictures are following the update)

Well, we moved, yet again, to a very very lovely house in the country outside of our little town.  Finding it perfect for raising our boys, we are hoping to be here a while.  It sits on 20 acres with 2 horses, 4 sheep, 6 chickens and a beatufiul creek.

The boys and I spent some time at the Grandparents home during the move to make the transition easier for everyone.  We played, visited with cousin Sage and kept cool in the pool.

We moved our family of 4 into this house with the expectation of a new arrival in a short, hot month.
Fender was welcomed into our home in early August.  He is a true blessing with his possum-like behavior and is well loved by his older brothers.
His blanket is an ongoing project to be completed hopefully by the end of the year!

In the middle of chaos and boxes, (as well as box climbers) Oscar turned 7 years old!

My Life Now:

It Blooms in Beauty and is always an adventure.  There is a constant flow of games, flowers, music, food, kisses, drawings and paintings, and is ALWAYS balanced by the diapers, screams and cleaning, but for that there is coffee, chocolate and wine!
