So much has happened since the last time we got together. I don't even know where to start. I guess I'll start with what I love best, Mi Madre and chocolate.
My mom's birthday was the last week in April so that weekend I swung by, picked her up and we headed to Dahlonega.
We headed to Rick's, a favorite spot, and had an awesome brunch. An appetizer of brie stuffed filo with blackberry drizzle. Ah, I can still taste those little bites.
After a long brunch complete with hot tea, we topped off our brunch with a trip to the local chocolate shop. Chocolate strawberries were a must, as was the milk chocolate gold bars filled with golden raisins and Georgia pecans!
We made a stop to the Brad Walker's pottery shop and picked up my now favorite coffee mug ever!
I just loved his little shop! It was so inviting with poems from Walt Whitman and Brad, himself filled the spaces in between the beautiful pieces of pottery. I'll leave you with one of the poems from Brad and will post another this later week.
Oh, and by the way, the menu plan went well last week. Check. Check. Check. it all off! The chocolate loaf from Apples for Jam was delicious.
And the lasagna, I made last night. Very different from how I make it normally, no mozzarella.
I made a bechamel sauce in place of the cheese. It was a bit runny but really really good!
The chicken made with capers, and tomatoes served with potato fries was D.vine. A defiant must if you are cooking from the Apples cookbook!
Ok, that's it for now. More going ons with pictures are sure to come, frog and caterpillar catching!
Looks like a wonderful week. Kind of jealous over the chocolate and pottery!
